What’s Coming to TV and Streaming in 2022?

Kicking off with TV, there are quite a few new series to keep an eye out for this year:

Killing Eve: Season Four (BBC/ iPlayer)
The fourth and final installment of murderous duo Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and Eve (Sandra Oh) will be hitting our TV screens early this spring! The award-winning thriller is full of twists and turns, with a cat and mouse style theme throughout as Eve is tasked to capture psychopathic assassin, Villanelle.

  • Peaky Blinders: Season Six (BBC/ iPlayer)
    Series six of Peaky Blinders has been eagerly awaited, after series five ended on a cliffhanger in 2019. Peaky Blinders follows Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his family, who run the most powerful gang in Birmingham, the Peaky Blinders.

  • The Suspect (ITV/ ITV Player)
    The Suspect is ITV’s latest psychological thriller, from the producers of Line of Duty, Vigil and The Pembrokeshire Murders. This series has generated a lot of excitement – it will follow a successful doctor whose life comes crashing down when a young woman is found dead, unravelling all of his secrets.

  • I Hate You (Channel 4/ All 4)
    I Hate You is channel 4’s latest sitcom from the creators of Friday Night Dinner. This series follows two best friends in their twenties (one played by Sex Education’s Tanya Reynolds) as they try to navigate an intense, messy friendship in today’s complicated world.

There’s plenty of newness coming to Netflix across 2022 – these are our top picks:

  • Bridgerton Series 2 – 25 March
    Bridgerton fans, don’t worry – gossip writer Lady Whistledown is back for the second installment of this period-set drama/romance. Bridgerton centres around Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of a prestigious family, and her quest for love in the London marriage market.

  • The Crown – Nov 2022
    The fifth series of The Crown is expected later on this year, consisting of 10 episodes. The role of Queen Elizabeth II is going to be taken over from Olivia Colman by Imelda Staunton, while paying tribute to the previous Queens.

  • Knives Out 2
    Knives Out 2 follows detective Daniel Craig, known as Benoit Blanc, taking on a new murder case. Knives Out was nominated for three Golden Globes, and an Oscar nomination, with the second installment expected to have the same success.

  • The Gray Man
    This action thriller features Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as two killers who are taking part in a deadly duel against each other. Gosling plays freelance assassin and former CIA operative Court Gentry, with Evans playing Lloyd Hansen who is sent to hunt down the Gray Man.

Now TV and Sky Cinema have plenty of original TV series and films to keep you busy this year:

  • The Amazing Maurice
    This lighthearted, young adult film follows Maurice, a streetwise cat. Based on the 2001 book, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett, Maurice comes up with a money-making scam with a group of talking rats and sets off on his mission.

  • Mass
    Mass is an American drama film, coming to Now TV in late January. The film follows two couples who both experience a violent tragedy which tears their lives apart, and how different people deal with the aftermath in different ways.

  • The Midwich Cuckoos – Spring 2022
    This Sky Original drama series features Keely Hawes as the lead, in a mysterious drama based on a sleepy English town where nothing much happens. One September evening the town is unsettled by a blackout zone for 12 hours without no warning.

  • As We See It
    Amazon Original As We See It follows three roommates: Jack, Harrison and Violet, all in their twenties and striving to navigate the world around them all while keeping jobs, making friends and falling in love.

  • Hotel Transylvania: Transformania
    Coming to Amazon Prime in January 2022 for the franchise’s final installment, Hotel Transylvania is back! Reunite with your favourite monsters on a new adventure and Drac’s most terrifying task yet.
